This movie, of course, is a comedy. Often, the comedy is "slapstick" too - meaning, the characters use their bodies a lot to make us laugh.

As a foreigner teaching English here, I thought a lot of things were funny. This movie helped me appreciate the difficulties my students face. I also think it shows how a lot of methods for learning to speak in English are not effective. What do you think is the best way to learn to speak English well?

I think that the movie was exaggerated in some parts for fun.
ReplyDeleteBut basic situation about English-pressure is absolutely true.
Although we are Korean, we have to study English for a long time.
Because of these Korean circumstances, I'm under a lot of stress.
Whenever foreigners ask me the way, I become obviously flustered.
I get confused and hesitate when I meet native English speakers.
Talking with native-english friends around my age will be a good way to learn to speak English well.
i wonder whether or not this obesseion with the english in other countries.

I Think this movie shows us "English-obsessed" Korean society added a little exaggeration. So It was funny and felt bitter.
ReplyDeleteObviously, most Korean doesn't like and difficult to speak English.
It's made by Korean public education. Korean public education came from Japanese bad Education when we was occupied by Japan.
So after we was liberated from Japan, we had to change our education.
But pro-Japanese group weren't punished, we don't change until now. Furthermore public educator love money it is not good money so we are harmed.
Therefore, I want more effective English education.
When we study English, I think we don't have to need Book!
We have to speak not Read and Write. So most students are afraid when they talk with native speaker that educator make surroundings more comfortable.
I really want to do in SCH too!!

this movie lampooned the English-obsessed Korean society. I think this movie made me think why most of us must study English and have a fear of English. so It was very funny and I felt sympathy because I also want to have the ability to speak English well but also always have a fear of Enlish and When I communicate with foreigners, I avoid the situation or speak at least a few words like these people in the movie. also, this movie depicts the society of the emphasizing Importance about English quite well.
ReplyDeleteI think Korea is English-obsessed because English ability is important in a tight Korea job market such as TOEIC and I have to score above 800 on TOEIC, if I get a job or I graduate from the university.
In conclusion, I think English have to do in Korea. because of this, If we can't avoid the situation, most of people including me about a fear of English should try to be better enjoyed.

Lee Na-young(Na Young-ju) is the average level official Republic of Korea 9. She is an optimist. Everyone may has the purpose of learning English. But Everybody has a different purpose. I study English because I want to travel foreign country and talk to foreigner. I saw this movie a few years ago. So I don`t remember the movie. But I think this movie show the behavior of Korean when they meet foreiners. Most Korean are afraid to meet foreigners. Because they think 'I can`t speak Englsih". So If foreigner asked some quastions, they say "I don`t know". I recommed we don`t afraid foreigner. I can become friendly with foreigners.

ReplyDeleteI saw this movie in the theater. I'd seen in a long time ago does not remember much. But I really remember is laughing a lot. Koreans think and tell about the English. I watch this movie had a lot of sympathy. Nowadays, a lot of English is important and essential. So I also have been studying English hard. English is the good that is worth it. English very well, hopefully I can get a good job. Therefore, Koreans are obsessed with their English. English in Korean society is necessary. Over time, English is of great value. This is because since going to the Global Age. Conclusion of the current in order to live a life of English is essential.

I didn't see this movie. but I know a few movie's contents. This movie shows to us that most korean has English complex, and if some people only studies english in korea, that people dosen't say well when foreigner talk to them.(Because korean has studied to focus grammer and reading.) I think this movie is accurate. I had studied such english during ten years!! but I'm not good at talking with foreingers. In korea, English is used to Korea SAT and some tests.. Korean is English-obsessed. Of course, I don't tell english is not important. English is international language. However, Korean usually uses not be used english. I think the best way to learn to speak English well is using English in many ways. Try to make sentence, letter and make foreigner friends, and If possible, you should try to talk to them. although you use English very well at first, It is fine. At first, Everybody don't speak english well. The more use englsih, The better english skill. I also don't speak englsih very well. but as I love using and writing english, I tries to interesting englsih. I want to talk to some people who is stuying english now.
